Privacy Policy
The Carers Social Group is committed to making sure your privacy is protected. We do this by looking after your personal information carefully and keeping it private from other people.
What information we collect
We only collect personal data about you which ensures we can keep you informed about our events, projects and information that we consider may be useful for carers. Information we collect may include your name, telephone number, email address, postal address, your ethnicity, your first language and the disability of the person you care for.
In cases where you are attending one of our projects or events, it may also include other information about you or your needs (for example, information on your dietary requirements or access requirements).
We will not collect or keep personal information about you unless we need it.
We will not collect more information than we need and we will not keep it any longer than we need to.
You can ask us to remove your personal information at anytime.
Keeping and using personal information
All the personal data we have is only processed by our staff. No third parties have access to your personal data unless the law allows them to do so.
We will try to make sure that all the information we hold about you is accurate and up to date. We will always let you know what information we hold about you if you ask us. We will always correct any mistakes in the information.
We will never share personal information with other people unless there is a safeguarding concern. Please contact us if you would like to see our Safeguarding Policy.
Photographs and films
We often take photographs and film at our sessions and events. We put up clear accessible signs that tell people about this and that photographs and films may be used by Carers Social Group for our website/s, fliers and publicity.
If you are unhappy about this, please tell us. We will make sure that we do not take any photographs/films of yourself and that you will not appear in any group photographs or films that may be used in our publicity.
You can do this by speaking to a Carers Social Group member on the day of an event/project or contacting us below:

Data breaches
If someone gets hold of your private information from our database and we don’t know about it, we will immediately review how we store information to find out what might have happened. If someone gets hold of a lot of private information, we will tell the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Confidentiality
We also collect anonymous statistical and anecdotal information, to allow us to contribute to the design, planning and review of services. We share this with other agencies who provide or fund services to learning disabled and autistic adults.
Safeguarding issues will always override the need for confidentiality. We reserve the right to breach confidentiality when sharing information that is vital to service user protection (see CSG safeguarding policy).
Examples of circumstances in which confidentiality would be breached could include:
if we have reason to believe that a vulnerable adult is experiencing abuse, whether physical, sexual, emotional or financial
If we believe a service user to be in a life-threatening situation
if a service user tells us that they intend to leave the person they are caring for unattended for a period of time, which we believe would cause them harm or endanger their life
This policy was approved by the CSG committee on 15 March 2024 and will be reviewed next on 15 March 2026
